Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT)
APPLICATION SECTORS
of NDT with Magnetic Powders
The fields of application of Magnetic Particle Inspection are many, the only condition is due to the fact that the elements subject to control must be made of ferromagnetic metals.
In particular, magnetoscopy has enormous practical utility in the control of welds, not all radio / gamma-printable, in the examination of hot or cold plastic deformations (bends, curvatures, pressure extrusions, etc.) of elements such as tubes, sheets, etc., for verification that the processes have not created micro-cracks, especially in correspondence with the most stressed areas of the molding, in the search for defects resulting from heat treatments, etc.
It is possible to operate with various equipment, from the most portable and light to the fixed and automated ones, in safe conditions even inside large metal structures (boilers, tanks, viaducts).
Magnetic Particle Inspection can be applied to the steel industry , to the electromechanical sector, to aeronautics , to aerospace , the civil sector , the energy , the off-shore , the transport , to the petrochemical . to the nuclear , to the artistic sector and practically all the other sectors where the state of integrity of a non-magnetic metal artifact needs to be examined.

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) - with bench
Magnetic particle testing (MT) is a non-destructive test performed on ferromagnetic materials (such as carbon steels and ferrous alloys), useful for detecting surface and sub-surface defects. The technique is based on the magnetisation of the piece and the application of ferromagnetic particles that accumulate in the presence of discontinuities such as cracks, porosity or inclusions.
PURPOSE OF THE TEST
Magnetic Particle Testing with Bench (MT)
To promptly identify structural defects that could compromise the integrity of the component, particularly in critical areas such as welds, edges, holes or complex geometries.
WHAT PROBLEM IT SOLVES
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) with bench
Prevents the use and commissioning of damaged or non-compliant components, reducing the risk of breakages, malfunctions and plant downtime. It is particularly suitable for quality control during production or for final testing.
Advantages of magnetic particle inspection with bench
At our headquarters, we have a Magiscop magnetic particle inspection machine, a high-performance professional tool that offers numerous advantages:
- High sensitivity: it allows even the most subtle discontinuities to be detected, which are difficult to detect with portable instruments.
- Repeatability and uniformity of inspection: it guarantees consistent results even on production batches or mass-produced parts.
- Suitable for complex components: it allows effective inspection of welds, forgings and mechanical parts of various shapes and sizes.
- Fast execution times: thanks to the dedicated workstation and automated process.
- Maximum safety and compliance with regulations: the system complies with industry standards and is operated by qualified Level II or III personnel (UNI EN ISO 9712).
Result for the customer
The customer receives a high-quality inspection, carried out in a controlled environment, with detailed technical documentation and the certainty of a professional inspection that complies with the standards required by the market and inspection bodies.
The service is only available at our well-equipped, easily accessible headquarters.
